Unable to accommodate those with dietary restrictions on a Sunday morning. Limited menu options. Unfortunate. Anyone should be able to make an egg white omelet or make a salad. We came with a large group. I sat and sipped my coffee while everyone else enjoyed their food. I'll remember this. I just finished a 2 mile swim across Lake Pepin for our annual group swim = hungry. Only giving a one star since I can't give it a zero. Waitress while friendly made no effort to try and accommodate my dietary needs. Ambiance of the restaurant was nice. That's all I have.

Great cute place for breakfast or lunch. Homemade goodness. Hidden gem. The breakfast sample is huge and you get a bit of everything. Eggs. 3 meats. Biscuit. Pancake. Fruit. Hash browns. Wow! Homemade caramel rolls on Saturday.

Wifey and I have eaten here twice, once for breakfast and once for lunch. I had the morning meatloaf and eggs breakfast, which was something I had never seen before. The meatloaf was formed in the shape of a muffin, with cheesy potatoes on top. It also came with a buttermilk biscuit, two lightly poached eggs and a slice of fresh pineapple on the side. It was delicious! Wifey had some kind of egg dish with avacados and other assorted veggies. I forget the name now, but it was the special of the day. She loved it! During our lunch visit, I had the Cubano burger. But not being much of a burger guy, I ordered it with just the ham and no beef. I was really hungry after a long morning out on the boat, so this was just the ticket. It was a hearty, tasty Cubano! Wifey had the Baja wrap sans the chicken. She said it was loaded with flavor and was a delicious, healthy lunch. The restaurant is actually an old house, and has a quaint, small town charm about it. The dining area was quiet and intimate, without being stuffy. Service was exemplary, and you don't have to wait long to get your food. Very enjoyable experience every time we've been there. Chickadees is definitely worth a try if you're in the area, or are looking for an interesting new place to drive to. Did I mention that it's right across the street from Lake Pepin? Nice view!

Went for the Sunday breakfast recently. If you go at a busy time, you'll wait to be seated. That's to be expected. Good food at a reasonable price, unless you aren't planning to eat a big breakfast. The waitress was plenty friendly, but the hostess was not particularly friendly, or sharp. Overall this is a decent place, but it's not run like a fancy, metropolitan restaurant, so dial down your service expectations a bit.

Arrived in Lake City hungry and looking for a place to have a local, quiet breakfast. The Chickadee Cottage was on Hwy. 61 and was the perfect setting for my breakfast. An airy feel, lots of sunshine coming in and quiet. I ordered the meatloaf muffin and eggs. It arrived in a timely fashion and it was done to perfection. The meatloaf was topped with hash browns and gravy! Yes, it was a great breakfast. The biscuit was very good too. A must stop for any meal...

WOW. Is all I can say. My boyfriend and I came here during a spontaneous camping trip down to Lake City. This place has delicious HOMEMADE and FRESH food for cheap. This is place is to die for and we will definitely go back!

The restaurant was busy but service was extremely slow & the waitress seemed to mismanage how she handled tables. Getting desert for several other tables before she even introduced herself to us or got us water. We sat for at least 10 minutes at the table waiting for her to appear (besides the 30 minutes we had to wait to get a table). Decided upon the Crunchy Thai Wrap because I love Thai Peanut type items & was in the mood for peanut sauce as outlined on the menu (homemade even). When wrap was received there was no hint what-so-ever of peanut sauce. There was some other white sauce on it that almost seemed like a ranch but not that strong as it really didn't have a flavor - it was just wet. Thai Peanut sauce should be an orangey brown color. Also received the side of sweet chili garlic sauce. It tasted from a jar. Sorry but anywhere I've ever eaten something that was Thai Peanut there's never a side of sweet chili sauce accompanying it. It just doesn't mesh. Wrap was extremely bland & the wrap itself seemed like a spinach wrap as it was green with spots. Ended up dumping the wrap contents out & just eating some of it w/ the sweet chili sauce. At least the only good thing about the wrap is that it wasn't chocked full of rice. It did seem to have a good balance of rice & chicken. But unfortunately nothing to write home about or ever go there again for. One of the other diners with me also ordered the Crunch Thai wrap & didn't care for it either. Wrap came with kettle chips which were ok. Again nothing spectacular. Asked for a side of ranch for them & ended up being charged for it - waitress should have informed that there was charge for it. Split a Caramel Apple Pie with my dinning partners & I have to say it was just blah! No taste what-so-ever. It was like moist squishy sponge cake between 2 layers of pie crust. At least the pie crust had a bit of flavor. Unfortunately this was my 1st visit here & it will be the last. I wouldn't waste my time or money going back.
